Met an accident today. Thank God I survived. Ang masamang damo, mahirap talaga mamatay. Haha.
I had crossed the road when a motorbike suddenly appeared. At its speed, I knew it would be a critical hit. I managed to step back a bit (I knew it wasn't enough to be missed) and the driver also managed to engage the brake and turn his wheel to avoid moving further ahead. But he turned the wheel towards me, not away from me. I saw him falling from his bike. I don't know what happened but I felt something push me. Impact must have been strong because when I landed on my back, my legs and feet were thrown up. Realizing I was in the middle of the lane, I got up. I couldn't have been more thankful for being a bit overweight. Had I been lighter, I might have reached the opposite lane. It happened infront of our subdivision so I was lucky. Our neighbor hugged me and gave me water, asked people to make sure the driver didn't run away, and sent for my parents. At first the driver blamed me for not looking before stepping. He claimed he was moving slowly. I could have responded "Sir, given the distance from ur motor to the spot where I got thrown off to, do u want us to calculate the speed at impact?" But I said instead, "I was on the sidewalk." I was angry but @ the end of the day, I was thankful he had the presence of mind to hit the brake. A tricycle driver took me to the hospital with my dad and urged that I got treated first; he could get paid later. I got no bone broken (official x-ray results are to be released later), and already received 3 injection shots. but my left hand and arm are swelling. Can't sleep because of the pain.
